Consistency Over Reinvention: A Different Kind of New Year Intention

Every December, it feels like the whole world starts chanting the same refrain: New Year, New You!
And honestly… I’ve grown pretty tired of it.
The pressure to reinvent ourselves every January 1st — new routines, new wardrobes, new bodies, new personalities — it’s exhausting. Especially when we all know the “before and after” photos in those ads were edited at least as much as they were earned.
But here’s the truth that feels steadier, kinder, and more grounded:
Most of us do not need a “new” anything. We just need consistency with the things that already help us feel like ourselves.
And wow, has my consistency taken a hit lately.
Starting a small business is incredible… and completely disruptive.
People often assume that because I am opening a yoga studio, I must be practicing daily. On paper, it sounds right. In reality? My practice slipped hard these past couple months.
My days are full of lease updates, contractor emails, product testing, retail planning, blog drafts, and the absolute mountain of details that come with building a space from the ground up. My yoga mat has been patiently rolled up in the corner, waiting for me to come back.
So, in 2026, my goal is not reinvention — it’s return.
Not a weight goal. Not a performance goal. Not a “morning routine that looks good on Pinterest” goal.
Just showing up, gently and consistently, for the practices that keep me grounded:
Yoga (asana)
Meditation
Journaling
Rest (yes, rest is a practice!)
Not for an hour a day. Not even thirty minutes. Five intentional minutes counts. Five minutes is enough to say, “I matter, and this moment is mine.”
My first 30 days (starting January 2 — I’m also taking the 1st off 😉)
I’m committing to 30 days of practicing consistency, not perfection. No rigid rules. No intensity expectations. Just daily touchpoints with myself.
I’ll be sharing the ups, downs, and messy middle over on Instagram and TikTok (@toastyasana) throughout January — partly for accountability, partly because I know I’m not the only one craving steady ground as the new year approaches.
If you’d like to join me… I made you something
I created a free downloadable 30-Day Consistency Tracker — a Toasty-style page to help you mark your own small wins, one day at a time.
No pressure to fill every box. No guilt if you miss a day. Just a gentle, visual reminder of how often you’re showing up for yourself.
Download it below. It’s the same one I’ll be using all January.
Wherever you are this season — overwhelmed, hopeful, exhausted, excited — I’m rooting for you. Truly.
And soon, very soon, our Carlisle hot yoga studio will open its doors and become a space where we can practice consistency together.
Wishing you a warm, grounded, healthy start to 2026.
Let’s build something steady.
